I’ll never forget the day she asked me why I question things so much.
Whenever one of my old friends from high school gets engaged or married (which is happening so very rapidly) I get “Independent Women” stuck in my head. At this point it is completely subconscious: I woke up singing “the rock I’m rocking - I bought it” and couldn’t figure out why until I got on Facebook. Then I remembered a girl with whom I used to have sleepovers every weekend, who called me from the bathroom after the first time a boy ventured into her vagina (fingers only - this is a youth-group leader we are talking about) is getting married. This one isn’t a shock at all, but it’s still weird. Are these people that I grew up with somehow already adults and I’m stunted? Or are they just pretending?
